"I'd like to thank Penfield Place Nursing & Rehabilitation for admitting patients to your facility from UR Thompson Hospital in the last few months. This has been so important to patients and family, and for us as we continue to provide care to our community. I appreciate your team, and our working relationship."
Director of Care Management and Social Work, UR Thompson Hospital

"I have been constantly amazed at the can-do attitudes and spirit of willingness to go above and beyond job descriptions shown by each member of the therapy team, including the physical therapists, occupational therapists, the PTAs and the OTAs. They show consistent professionalism and compassion to the residents in their care and constantly communicate any concerns to the interdisciplinary team including myself."

"Everyone, from the owner down to the dietary staff, genuinely cares about my father’s well-being and recovery. He has been extremely happy with the level of care and attention he has received and is well on his way to a speedy recovery. I don’t know where he, or my family, would be without Hurlbut Care Communities."

"The Hurlbut is by far the best care facility bar none. If anyone is looking for a place that would take excellent care of their loved ones, look no further than here; you will not regret it."

News From Hurlbut Care Communities

Effective July 1st, Jeremy Strauss, president and CEO of The Grand Healthcare System, will be operating both The Shore Winds and Hornell Gardens locations. With this change, all employees will retain their positions at their respective facilities. I will continue to own and operate the remaining 11 skilled nursing facilities in the greater Rochester area under Hurlbut Care Communities®. Additionally, my son, Robert G. Hurlbut, is being named Vice President of Hurlbut Care Communities®, which now makes us a fourth-generation, family-owned business. I look forward to continue evolving, improving, and serving the needs of the elderly in our area.

New York State Missing the Mark with Nursing Home Reforms

The public needs to know what ‘reforms’ some of our State Legislators, Senators and Governor Cuomo are trying to push through in the final FY 2021-22 State Budget. This legislation being advanced in the Senate and Assembly adversely affect nursing homes, both residents and staff. The very same industry that has been at the forefront of this battle, our healthcare heroes working day in and day out throughout this COVID-19 pandemic. During a critical time when we need support, we are instead facing Medicaid cuts, staffing mandates, and reforms that don’t truly help us to care for our residents, and certainly don’t help us to strategically grow our workforce.
