Robert W. Hurlbut
President and CEO
Robert W. Hurlbut is the President/CEO of Hurlbut Care Communities and has held this title since 1993. Hurlbut is a graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology, with a degree in Food, Hotel and Travel Management. He serves on numerous community and civic boards. He was named a Distinguished Alumnus of Rochester Institute of Technology in 1998 and was given the University's Sarah Margaret Gillam Award - Hotel School in 2009. He was named one of Rochester's 40 Under 40 by the Rochester Business Journal in 1995. In his personal life, Bob lives in Brighton with his wife Sarah and has two sons, Forrest and Robert.
Bridgett M. Reed
CFO
Bridgett has been in healthcare for more than 25 years, earning several awards for her work. She received her Master’s Degree in Business from Rochester Institute of Technology in 1993, and has since taught finance courses and presented at several healthcare finance forums. She resides in Webster.
Joan Brackett
Quality Care Coordinator
Joan makes sure Hurlbut Care Communities’ quality continues to be second to none. She joined Hurlbut in 2001. Joan earned her RN at the Methodist School of Nursing and her BSN through Eastern Michigan University. When her child was in high school, she volunteered for their school’s soccer, lacrosse and basketball teams. When Joan isn’t maintaining quality care for Hurlbut, she enjoys reading, getting together with friends and biking.
Gail Brocious
Quality Care Coordinator
Gail’s career with Hurlbut Care Communities began in 1995, when she became Quality Care Coordinator. She previously served as Nurse Manager and was later promoted to Staff Development Coordinator at the Hurlbut Nursing Home. Gail then moved up to Director of Nursing at the same facility. She holds a Master’s Degree from the State University of New York at Brockport, and is a Certified Gerontological Nurse. Gail volunteers as a Boy Scout First Aid Merit Badge Counselor, and has served on committees for the Rochester City School District and Medical Orders for Life Sustaining Treatment. She is married with three children and five grandchildren.
Connie Lester
Director of Marketing
Connie is in charge of getting the word out about Hurlbut Care Communities. She joined Hurlbut in 2011, after serving in a similar capacity at a large, corporate-run facility in Pennsylvania. She enjoys now being part of a the ‘Hurlbut family’ atmosphere. Connie holds a Bachelor’s degree in Speech Communication from The Pennsylvania State University. She also studied Nursing at Harrisburg Area Community College. Connie is very involved in Rochester-area activities that support the elderly — and is a current member of G.R.A.P.E., the Greater Rochester Area Partnership for the Elderly. She is also a certified facilitator of Alzheimer’s support groups. She is a proud mother of 3 with two daughters and a son.
Christopher Hill
Director of Information Technology
Christopher keeps all of the Hurlbut Care Communities' digital information up to date and secure. He joined Hurlbut in 2001. When he’s not updating the network or backing up data he spends time with his wife of 20 years, Laura, and son, Clayton. Christopher also enjoys working on and restoring motorcycles and ATVs.
Melissa Reinhart
Director of Admissions
Melissa is in charge of placing people in the right Hurlbut community facility. She joined Hurlbut in 2005 and has held various roles throughout her tenure including Social Worker in the rehab unit, Business Office Manager and Admissions Coordinator. Melissa holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work with a minor in Gerontology from Nazareth College and a Master’s degree in Education from St. John Fisher College. She is a native of Rochester, growing up in Honeoye Falls, and is married with a six-year old son. When she’s not at Hurlbut, you can find Melissa volunteering for her son’s soccer league or participating in Spartan races with her husband.
Ryan Bonnell
Director of Rehabilitation
Ryan worked as full-time Occupational Therapist/Rehab Director for Woodside Manor and Rehab Director for Penfield Place prior to being promoted to his current position as Director of Rehabilitation for all the Hurlbut Care Communities. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Buffalo and worked as an Occupational Therapist at University Hospital in Syracuse, then Rochester General Hospital before joining Hurlbut in 1998. He coaches a youth Brighton Jr. Barons football team and the Jr. Barons 12U Monroe County Regional Baseball travel team. He regularly attends and supports Browncroft Community Church. Ryan and his wife of 17 years have a son and daughter.
James Donofrio
MSHA, LNHA – Administrator, Avon Nursing & Rehabilitation and Hamilton Manor
James joined Hurlbut Care Communities in 2015 as an Assistant Administrator for The Hurlbut Nursing Home where he oversaw Social and Nutritional Services. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Health Care Administration from SUNY Brockport and a Master’s degree in Health Care Administration from Roberts Wesleyan College. James is a recipient of the Walence Young Health Care Leadership Award and the American College of Health Care Administrators (ACHCA) NY Chapter 2018 New Administrator of the Year Award. During high school, James volunteered for a local nursing home which is eventually what led him to this rewarding field. He is engaged to his childhood sweetheart, Lisa, and is a fan of Buffalo Bills and Notre Dame football.
Doris P. Garcia
LNHA – Administrator, The Brightonian Nursing & Rehabilitation
Doris celebrated 20 years with Hurlbut Care Communities in 2013. Her background includes significant educational experience, as she holds Bachelor of Science degrees in both Gerontology and Psychology. Married with two children, Doris is fluent in three languages and is also a classically trained pianist. She contributes to the community by fundraising for the American Diabetes Association and sponsoring a youth soccer program, among other giving-back activities.
Ann M. Harris
BPS, LNHA – Administrator, Conesus Lake Nursing & Rehabilitation
Ann has served as Administrator at three different Hurlbut Care Communities since she joined the organization in 1986. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Health Service Administration from SUNY Institute of Technology and is a graduate of the NYSHA Advanced Administrators Course. Married with two children, Ann is also a past President and Board of Directors’ Member of the Flower City Ballet. As a hobby, she raised and showed miniature horses on the national circuit for many years.
Tammy Henning
Administrator, Hornell Gardens Nursing & Rehabilitation
Prior to joining Hurlbut Care Communities in February of 2018, Tammy was part of our Administrator in Training program at Seneca Nursing and Rehabilitation — a Hurlbut Care Community in Waterloo, NY. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Wells College and a Master’s degree in Health Systems Administration from Rochester Institute of Technology. Tammy is a recipient of the Eli Pick Facility Leadership award for 2015 and 2016 for her work at another facility. She gave back to the community for ten years as a volunteer EMT and is actively involved with caring for her aging parents outside of work.
Robert G. Hurlbut
Administrator
Robert has literally grown up in the family business, representing the fourth generation of caring by the Hurlbut family – a family well respected for its service and commitment to the Rochester region and deeply committed to caring for seniors. In fact, as a middle school and high school student, Robert has held various positions at Hurlbut Care Communities over the years including roles in recreation, dietary, housekeeping and maintenance. He joined Hurlbut full-time in June 2018 as an Assistant Administrator and was promoted to Administrator of The Hurlbut in November 2019. Robert holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Villanova University and a degree in Long Term Care Administration from St. Joseph’s College. When he’s not busy with Hurlbut, Robert is a distance runner with the Genesee Valley Harriers and you’ll find him running around Cobbs Hill or Mendon Ponds.
Stephen Hamlin
Administrator, Latta Road East and Latta Road West
Steve has been a member of the Hurlbut Care leadership team for 13 years. He graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration from the State University at Brockport and has pursued additional coursework at RIT and St. John Fisher College. Prior to joining the Hurlbut team, Steve was an administrator at Wedgewood and Elm Manor.
Kelly Davids
Administrator, Newark Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation
Kelly brings extensive experience at Hurlbut Care Communities and other medical facilities to her administrator role. She started with our organization as a nurse coordinator on a rehabilitation floor, then moved up to be Director of Nursing at Seneca Nursing & Rehabilitation for over nine years. She served as Assistant Administrator at Hornell Gardens and Administrator of Elm Manor prior to coming to Newark Manor. Kelly enjoys reading, as well as hiking and camping with her husband and three sons. She also volunteers with her church’s youth ministry and teaches Sunday school and vacation bible school.
Robert Rubens
Administrator, Penfield Place Nursing & Rehabilitation
As the Administrator for Penfield Place Robert makes sure his facility run smoothly. He joined Hurlbut Care Communities as an Administrator in November 2018 and has 18 years of previous employment with Hurlbut Care Communities as an Administrator for Woodside Manor Facility, Shorewinds Nursing Facility, Wedgewood Nursing Facility and Avon Nursing Facility. He holds an AAS in Food Service Management from Monroe Community College and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a minor in Gerontology from Nazareth College. Robert was a 2018 Recipient of the ELI PICK Award for Long Term Care Leadership. He’s also a current board member for the Foundation for Long Term Care which provides scholarships to area health care workers. Robert has two daughters — one who is working as a sous chef and another who is a college sophomore, majoring in Criminal Justice.
Mary Lee Burnell
LNHA – Administrator, Seneca Nursing & Rehabilitation
Mary Lee brings extensive health care and elder care experience to her role as Administrator at Seneca. With Hurlbut Care Communities since 1992, she has served as an Assistant Administrator and Director of Social Work at other facilities. She is an active member of several area organizations dedicated to improving the community and quality of life for our region, including the Finger Lakes Health Care Alliance Board, Seneca County Chamber of Commerce, and Genesee Health Facilities Association, among others. Mary Lee has two adult children and one grandchild. In her spare time, she enjoys skydiving, hot air ballooning, whitewater rafting and other adventurous activities.
Kimberley Danzig
RN, LNHA – Administrator, The Shore Winds Nursing & Rehabilitation
With Hurlbut Care Communities since 1999, Kim has served as a Director of Nursing at two facilities, Assistant Director of Nursing at two other facilities, and an Assistant Administrator prior to becoming Administrator of The Hurlbut in 2011, and now Administrator of The Shore Winds. She is very active in her Hilton community, serving as President of the Hilton Boys Lacrosse Booster Program and on the Board of Directors of HAYLO (Hilton Area Lacrosse Organization). Previously, she was head medic for Hilton Raiders Football. Kim is married with two children, a girl and a boy (who quite clearly play lacrosse)!
Alaina Maley
MHA, LNHA – Administrator, Woodside Manor
Alaina joined Hurlbut Care Communities in October 2019, as the Administrator of Woodside Manor. She brings over 15 years of experience working with seniors in skilled nursing, assisted, enhanced, and independent living facilities and communities, as well as nine years of pharmacy experience. Alaina holds a Master's degree in Health Care Administration and a Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, and Economics.
