An Update from Bob Hurlbut, CEO

Hurlbut Care Communities has been adhering to the directive sent to all Nursing Homes in NYS on March 25, 2020 by New York State Department of Health’s (NYSDOH) Advisory on Hospital Discharges and Admissions. This advisory requires that nursing homes accept residents with confirmed or suspected diagnosis of COVID-19 as long as they are medically stable.

Additionally, New York State continues to control the distribution of personal protective equipment (PPE). They have not shared when more will be provided to area County Offices for Emergency Management (OEMs), who rely on this supply to help support local nursing facilities and other healthcare organizations. We thank our County representatives who, despite these State-level challenges, are working together with our healthcare heroes to address the critical needs of seniors during this difficult time.

We are notifying via phone and in writing to all families and residents regularly, in order to ensure transparency in affected facilities. Out of privacy concerns for those we serve, we are only releasing specific details about COVID-19 positive cases to family members, as it directly relates to their loved ones.
